New York City Triathlon

“If God invented marathons to keep people from doing anything more stupid, triathlon must have taken Him completely by surprise.” P.Z. Pearce

The Hudson river will probably lose a lot of its charm once I will be swimming on Sunday, and I promised my wife that I will do my best to not swallow any water. But am I the only one to think that it will be very cool?

This Sunday I will swim 1500 meters in the Hudson, bike 26 miles on a tandem and run 6.2 miles, finishing in Central Park. My race number will be 2916, you can follow my progress here:

It will be my first NYC triathlon, I know that it will probably be very hot and humid, but let’s see if I can break 3 hours.

My guide for the 2015 NYC marathon, Stefan will be racing on his own, he will start shortly after the pros at ~6:15 AM. This time I will be racing with Nacho, it will be our first triathlon together, we will start at 7 AM.

It’s nice to switch guides sometimes, it’s always interesting to build a new dynamic. I must confess however that Stefan is a much better rider than Nacho, I will miss him on the bike course!

  1. CONGRATULATIONS Charles on a phenomenal NYC race result! As always, you have exceeded everyones expectations by far and it was just pure fun to cheer you on and be part of your great day. May I just say: I believe an apology for Nacho is in order…your guys bike time was pretty outstanding 🙂

    1. Well said Nicole! Thank you so much for leading the cheer!
Nacho outdid himself, he kept swearing in Spanish, encouraging me by saying “courage”, and we did it! A little trash talking is always good though.
