Ok, here we go again, the first race of the season is coming up. I will be #3822 on Sunday for the NYC half marathon. I hope to see some of you out there! There is nothing better for my morale than chitchatting with readers of this blog during a race. I will be in the first wave, we will start at 7:30 AM.
But for the first time in my short running career, I feel unprepared. I am very lucky to be the director of a great organization, but I had to travel a lot those past few weeks. I was in Costa Rica in February, and I went to Nicaragua last week (I know, I have a tough life). It’s very difficult for me to run there for several reasons:
I don’t have a guide when I’m abroad
The roads are very treacherous in Central America
I don’t like treadmills!
This half marathon is a great way for me to prepare for Boston, but as you know by now, I’m stupidly competitive, I want to go under 1:39 on Sunday. I don’t know if this will happen. I feel like a little boy that didn’t study for his test and who is trying to fool his teacher. So if you pass me on the West Side Highway, please say that you love my blog, that might give me a second wind! We will be easy to identify, Stefan just bought us 4 matching pairs of aviator sunglasses (I know, I have cool teammates).
